About April

I am a retired Osteopath, which I thoroughly enjoyed but then I discovered true healing of the whole person at a much deeper level in Polarity Therapy. What does Polarity Therapy offer that other complementary therapies don't? There is something literally awesome about what I see as 'The Polarity Process', a unique journey to health and healing that really does acknowledge Body, Mind AND Soul as a beautiful symphony of harmonies and dischords moving towards balance, homeostasis, healing.

I have trained in other Bodymind approaches including 'Cranio-sacral Therapy', 'Focusing' and 'Hakomi' but I have always been drawn back to the art and science of Polarity Therapy which is a spacious crucible, in a way big enough to hold all of these approaches but also with its own very clear principles and practices developed by its founder, Randolph Stone(who was an Osteopath). Polarity Therapy incorporates Eastern (Ayurvedic) and Western aproaches to health and healing, working with therapeutic touch, diet and nutrition, attitude of mind and emotions, and Yoga-based Polarity stretching exercises including sounding, acknowledging the importance of all these aspects to allow the clear free-flow of the Lifeforce Energy.

In my approach to my work, connecting with the person receiving the treatment at a deep level, always sensitively and respectfully is at the heart of the work (and play!) and being present for the other and encouraging the person to learn to become present for themselves. Polarity Therapy is about 'Bodymindfulness' learning to connect mindfully and heartfully with your body and soul, tuning in and listening to what your bodystory is whispering, telling, shouting, maybe singing to you and how to unwind and untangle to find ease, relaxation, quietness of mind, peace. Polarity Therapy is a healing process that can be applied whatever age you are, whether a tiny baby, child, teenager, adult or nearing the end of this life (treatment from cradle to grave!).

I am also a trained Mental Health Nurse specialising in working with older adults with Dementia.
